Journalist

Born in Milan to a Sardinian father born in Decimomannu and a Sicilian mother from Gela, she spent the first nine years of her life in Italy and then moved to Copenhagen, where she attended the international school. In 1993 he moved to London to study international relations at the London School of Economics. After the year of preparation at the journalism department of the City University of London and the first experiences in the editorial office, in 2000 she began a collaboration with the BBC in the Today program broadcast on BBC radio 4 and later she was employed as a reporter for BBC London News.
Since 2007 he has contributed from the Al Jazeera English studios in London. For the Arab broadcaster he conducts important investigations in Washington, from the Gaza Strip, to Israel and the West Bank. Also for Al Jazeera, she follows the apostolic journey of Pope Benedict XVI to the Holy Land as a journalist accredited by the papal delegation. It is the first time ever that a journalist from the aforementioned broadcaster has traveled in the wake of the Vatican authority. Since October 2023 she has been back working at Sky News UK as a presenter.
In Italy in the spring of 2011 he hosted the television program Cosmo on Rai 3; he is also a columnist for the historic TV Talk program and sometimes a guest in in-depth and current affairs broadcasts. She is the author of the book Gli italiani non sono pigri (2014) for which she won the Caccuri Literary Prize.
His paternal grandfather was Vitale Piga Serra, from 28 September 1939 to 22 April 1942 podestà of Carbonia, a city of foundation built by the fascist regime. In 2020 he shot the documentary Fascism in the Family, a journey that traces the story of his grandfather between the Italy of yesterday and today. She was a guest of the Liberevento Cultural Festival in 2025 with the book “Fascismo in famiglia” (Ed. Garzanti).
