Since the nineties he has been working at Rai as a correspondent and author of information programs. Since 27 March 2017 he has hosted the television program Report, broadcast on Rai 3. In 1989 he landed at TG3 where he dealt with news, current affairs and sport. In 1997 he began collaborating with Rai International, Rai News 24 and Tg3 Primo Piano. He was a RAI correspondent in the Balkans, in 2001 he went to New York to cover the attacks of September 11, 2001. He has carried out numerous investigations into the illicit trafficking of waste, the mafia and the controversial use of weapons with depleted uranium, and has denounced the use, by the US army, of the chemical agent white phosphorus during the fighting in Fallujah, Iraq, a case that has been covered by the most important media in the world.
In 2001, during an investigation into mafia massacres, he found and broadcast the last interview, which remained unpublished for a long time, by judge Paolo Borsellino, in which the magistrate, a few hours before the Capaci massacre, spoke for the first time about the relationship between Marcello Dell’Utri, the boss of Cosa Nostra Vittorio Mangano and Silvio Berlusconi, an interview that aroused numerous controversies. Since 2006 he has been co-author of Report, with Milena Gabanelli. In 2009 he created with Milena Gabanelli the book Ecofollie, published by Bur, concerning the problem of the lack of disposal of nuclear waste. In January 2009 he published the book Il patto: da Ciancimino a Dell’Utri, la trattativa Stato-mafia nel unpublished racconto di un infiltrato. In 2010 he carried out the investigation that led to the discovery and seizure of Calisto Tanzi’s art gallery, which until then the owner of Parmalat had hidden from investigators. Since 2011 he has been collaborating with the Corriere della Sera. In 2012 he conceived and curated the program for Rai3 Off the Report created by young investigative journalists. Since spring 2017 he has been the new presenter of Report in place of Milena Gabanelli, for whom he will receive, in 2021, the Flaiano television award.
Since June 2020 he has been chosen by the director of Rai 3 Franco Di Mare as his deputy. He was a guest of the Liberevento Cultural Festival in 2024 with “La scelta” (Ed. Bompiani 2024) and “Il Patto” (Ed. Chiarelettere 2023).
