Expert in logic and mathematics, he is a lecturer at Cornell University and the University of Turin. Contributor to «Repubblica», «L’Espresso», «Le Scienze» and «Psychologies», he directs for Longanesi the series of scientific dissemination «La Lente di Galileo». In 1998 he won the Galileo Prize of the Italian Mathematical Union, in 2002 the Peano Prize of Mathesis and in 2006 the Italgas Prize for dissemination. An acute and brilliant polemicist, he ranges with mastery from religious criticism to scientific popularization and rose to prominence with the heated disputes following his The Gospel According to Science (1999). In addition to mathematics, in fact, in his publications he deals with scientific dissemination, history of science, philosophy, politics, religion, exegesis, philology and various essays. He was a guest of the Liberevento Cultural Festival in 2023 on the occasion of the spring preview Il Maggio Letterario di Liberevento with the book “In cammino alla ricerca della verità: Lettere e colloqui con Benedetto XVI” (Ed. Rizzoli 2022).
