Journalist and author

He formed in the Etna capital where he founded and directed, starting from December 1963, the magazine “Giovane Critica”. In January 1970 he moved to Rome, then followed his career as a journalist starting to take his first steps in the newspaper Paese Sera. He is one of the founders of the periodical Il Manifesto (1969), but leaves it after only three months due to incompatibility with his colleagues. He was editor-in-chief of the newspaper of the political movement “Lotta Continua”, which he left in 1971. He collaborated for a few years with L’Europeo and from 1987 with Panorama, a relationship that ended in an inconsistent manner in 2005 with the arrival of the new director Pietro Calabrese. He writes numerous books and collaborates with the newspaper Il Foglio di Giuliano Ferrara, on which he edited for a certain period of time the daily column called “Uffa!”. Since 1998 his popularity has grown due to his regular presence on the television program Controcampo. In 2006 he won the Cimitile Prize, in the non-fiction section, with the work “And the woman created the man”, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. In 2010 he won the “San Fele d’oro” award for television. He was a guest of the Cultural Festival Liberevento in 2020 with the book ” Uffa: Cartoline amare da un tempo in cui accadde di tutto” (Marsilio Ed.).
