Alessandro Masala

Content creator, founder of Breaking Italy

Also known as SHY (acronym for Shooter Hates You) he is a content creator from Cagliari born in ’84. After studying Political Science, he became known for Breaking Italy, his daily show (online every day Monday to Friday) which since 2011 on YouTube has commented on the most interesting news of the day mainly on domestic and foreign politics.
The founding idea of Breaking Italy was to create a news show made of pure infotainment that could enclose in about twenty minutes insights on the most relevant issues of the day, but treating them in a personal, ironic and entertaining style. The goal has always been to devote particular attention to fundamental issues such as the free exchange of ideas and opinions (as opposed to the typical “clash” that characterizes online debate).
Breaking Italy has grown to become a reference point of Youtube Italy, in 2016, 2017 and 2018 the show won the Macchianera Award as best political opinion site. In April 2019 Breaking Italy Night (initially Breaking Italy Podcast) was born, a monthly format of interviews as an in-depth analysis of some topics covered in the videos and dear to the community, recorded live at the theater in Milan with the presence of the public, enjoying great success in terms of attendance. Among the guests we remember Fedez, PTN, Jackal, Luca Sofri, Daria Bignardi, Marco Cappato, Cecilia Sala, Francesco Costa, BarbascuraX, Yotobi and many others.
In October 2022, “Grandi Linee” was born, the daily press review podcast, hosted by Alessandro and with the participation of the editorial staff. He was a guest of the Liberevento Cultural Festival in 2025 with the editorial staff of Breaking Italy – Chiara Lai Sanna (curator and co-author), Alessio Cherchi (co-author), Ingrid Costantino (illustrator) with the book “2040. Venti quaranta.” (Ed. Mondadori).
