Liberevento’s activities for schools

The Liberevento Festival includes a special section dedicated to local schools and organizes every year, from January to May, appointments with authors and journalism courses designed for the students.

Thanks to this initiative, students have the opportunity to come into direct contact with books and writers, experiencing literature not only as a school discipline, but as a concrete and shared experience. This discussion is aimed at encouraging interest in reading and spreading a solid culture of the book, capable of accompanying them on their path of growth, stimulating creativity, encouraging writing and developing a critical spirit on current issues.

In recent years, events have been held in the company of important authors such as: Massimo Dall’Oglio with his book “Cronache dal mondo emerso” (Panini Comics) and a special lab on Manga; Monica Tronci which has presented “Il Diario di Eleonora D’Arborea. L’infanzia di una Regina” (S’Alvure Editore 2022) and a literary workshop on plasticine creation and the history of Sardinia; Roberto Abutzu has presented his book “Neko” (Pettirosso editore 2023) a novel set entirely in Sulcis that begins with an unconventional encounter, between twists, reality and fantasy. The author went completely blind due to a genetic disease discovered in the mid-1990s, interrupted his studies as an industrial technical designer and completely changed his lifestyle, approaching computer science, until he became a teacher and computer technician specializing in typhlotechnical aids for the visually impaired.
Another event allowed students to meet Vincenzo Schettini who amazed students with his book “The Physics We Like” (Mondadori 2022) and Guido Saraceni with “The Ocean in a Drop” (SperlingKupfer 2021). The novel is about a twenty-year-old girl who hasn’t left the house in a year and who has built her comforting routine within the four walls of the apartment where she lives alone, until news breaks her reassuring habits.

The Liberevento Festival also organizes, thanks to the collaboration with the Satta-Spano-De Amicis Institute in Cagliari, a special journalistic writing workshop led by the journalist and poet Claudio Moica.
The course offers students the fundamental knowledge that governs journalistic work, delving into the various professional roles and functions present within a newsroom.

The conscious use of digital tools, especially smartphones, also promotes media education and strengthens soft skills such as teamwork, organization, and problem solving. The workshop also represents a valuable tool for educational and professional guidance, stimulating interest in the world of communication and journalism, and ultimately promotes fundamental values such as inclusion, resilience, and personal growth, helping to increase students’ self-esteem and active participation.
