The “Associazione Culturale Contramilonga ETS” is a third sector organisation that has been committed to promoting and disseminating culture throughout the region since 2011. Its most important initiative is the Festival Culturale Liberevento, recognised in 2022 as one of the major established literary events in the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (Regional Law 20.09.2006, no. 14, art. 21, paragraph 1, letter m), which takes place every year between July and August, mainly in southern Sardinia, in locations characterised by breathtaking natural landscapes and often unconventional settings such as historic courtyards, ancient tuna fisheries, archaeological sites and mining museums.
The festival’s itinerant format was designed primarily to promote the region while opening it up to experiences and voices from all over Italy. Since its inception, the association has invested energy and creativity in transforming Liberevento into a special opportunity for authors, readers, artists, and communities to come together. Similarly, ongoing dialogue with major publishing houses enriches the programme and ensures a lively presence of authors and new literary works.
The steady growth of the initiative has been made possible above all thanks to the contribution of public bodies, such as the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the municipalities that join the festival circuit each year, and private bodies such as the Fondazione di Sardegna.
Alongside institutional partners and funders, over the years a solid network of collaborations has been established with private sponsors who believe in the association’s vision and support a project that restores cultural and social value.
The Festival also enjoys the patronage of the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino, the National Association ‘I Presidi del Libro’, the Centre for Books and Reading, the President of the Regional Council of Sardinia and Rai Sardegna.
Particularly significant is the collaboration with schools, where workshops, meetings with authors and educational activities are organised throughout the year to convey to young people the pleasure of reading and the importance of critical thinking.
In addition its activities in the local area, the association has also built a solid and recognisable digital presence on the main social networks, capable of promoting content and telling the story of the festival through stories, images and videos. The result is a diverse and constantly growing community.
Behind the organisation is a passionate and competent team of professionals and volunteers who, year after year, take care of every detail: from artistic design to communication, from logistics to welcoming guests. The staff are the real driving force behind the association, capable of transforming an idea into a shared experience that involves the public, artists and the local area.
The Contramilonga Association also organises the Musichevento Festival, a project that complements and enriches the Liberevento Cultural Festival. Since 2023, Musichevento has become a music festival in its own right, offering a wide range of events to suit the tastes of a diverse audience.
